Watch Folders

If you’d like to import references to your library directly from your device when you start the desktop application, you can do so using our “watch folders” feature. Watch folders automatically import references directly from a folder on your device into your library, when you start the desktop application.

To set this up, head to your Papers desktop application, navigate to Papers Settings and open the Folders tab. Once there, you’ll be able to create a “folder to watch”.

You can select which library references are imported to, and you’ll need to specify the exact path to the folder. Simply click on “Browse” and locate the designated folder on your device.

Any reference placed inside the folder will be automatically imported to your Papers library when you start the desktop application.

Once you finish setting up your watched folder, make sure to hit “Save” at the bottom right.

If you want the files removed from the local folder upon import, you can set this up in the Library tab in Papers Settings. Click on the “Keep Papers library folder organized” option first, then click on “Move files” to select it.
