Papers Joins the ReadCube Family – Welcome!

Today we are excited to announce that Papers will be joining ReadCube’s suite of researcher tools. This partnership is an extraordinary occasion for both of us as we look to the future and imagine an acceleration and amalgamation of ideas for the benefit of loyal users of both apps.

From the outset both Papers and ReadCube were created to solve the problems researchers face every day, and both have been dedicated to helping researchers organize, read, cite and discover research material from the rapidly expanding universe of electronic papers and articles available to them.  For some time we’ve admired Papers’ award winning app for the Mac and, while our paths have been similar in many ways, there are interesting distinctions which now draw us together.  We see many opportunities for both platforms to benefit and opportunities to facilitate even better functionality within the comfort and familiarity of the ReadCube or Papers apps which users of either have come to know and rely on.

What does this mean for you as a ReadCube or Papers user?  Both the Papers and ReadCube apps you know and love will continue to serve you and will be supported by the wider ReadCube & Papers team.  Over the coming months, we will be working to improve interoperability between the two apps as we combine our efforts. And, as always, we look forward to working with you, our user community, and ask for your input as we chart the course.

In the meantime, we’d like to take a moment to express our deep gratitude to all of our users, ambassadors, librarians, publishing partners, and friends who have made both ReadCube and Papers what they are today.  We are proud of our new alliance and the accelerated development trajectory it enables.

Sincerely,

The ReadCube Team
