How will Papers help my research?

Papers at its core is a collaborative reference manager that helps keep your collection of articles organized in these uncertain times.

As new research develops, our browser extension is the tool you need. Quickly add articles into your library with just one click wherever you see the Add to Library button. The extension will also show you what you already have in your library so to save you from downloading the same paper multiple times.

Connect your institutional proxy to your account to guarantee you have full article access to your institution’s subscription holdings. You’ll see View PDFs across all the sites you search letting you know you have access to the articles and can begin reading and marking them up with your annotations.

Our unlimited cloud storage and cross-platform functionality ensure your library goes wherever you are.

Take use of our Shared Libraries and collaborate with your colleagues. You can share articles, annotations, and notes with up to 30 people.

You can find our complete feature list here

If you have any more questions or concerns, browse our FAQs below or reach out to our support team directly.

Don’t forget to check out our training portal which highlights how to make the most of the platform! We also run daily live training sessions to help get you started.

How do I request the free subscription access?

To receive your free 6-month subscription to Papers, use this form to provide us with your name, institution, and email address. One of our community team members will reach out to you at the provided email address with your unique Papers code and instructions.

We will be emailing you a unique license key within 1 business day. If you haven’t received it and it’s been more than that, double-check any spam or trash folders. If you haven’t received the email, and it’s not in your spam folder, please let us know.

What will happen with my documents once the temporary subscription expires?

We never lock you out of your library. You’ll still have full access to all of your documents after the subscription expires, just like if you had ended a regular Papers subscription. You can export your library out so the only difference is that you won’t have access to the subscription features, like the Shared Libraries, unless you decide to subscribe fully.

How does this affect my existing subscription?

At this time we are offering this subscription access to users without active subscriptions.

How else are you supporting COVID 19?

Along with our team, our support to helps researchers during this time is also matched by Digital Science and its other portfolio companies. Gain some helpful work from home tips by Digital Science employees with everyday insight into remote working.
